Moonbow Landscapes - (MooLa)

Moonbow Landscapes - (MooLa)

Two years ago my fellow LW friend Ashwini Kumar Bhat decided to make a documentary on one of the last pristine river systems in India, Aghanashini .  Our documentary will be a unique documentation of the amazing wonders this river hosts, as told by the river herself!   Uncovering her story revealed to us many surprises. Some so spectacularly rare, that knowing about them let alone catching sight of them, was in itself an impossibility. As a part of Unseen Landscapes , I have been researching on Moonbows for close to 2 years and during one of my reke trips to Unchalli Falls (Aghanashini’s most famous water falls) I saw the potential it held.   Rainbows is nothing new and most of us would have seen atleast once...

Fiery Landscapes (FiLa)

4th in the series of Unseen Landscapes by Landscape Wizards - this is the story of Firey Landscapes or Chir Batti ( Ghost Lights ). The team went in search of the mysterious ghost lights in the 3000sq km area of the Banni grassland in Kutch region of Gujrat around the now silent volcanic mountain - Kiro. The challenges, the sights, the experiences are what you can get to witness in this mini-doc.

Subterranean Landscapes ( SuLa)

In Dec 2014 Shiva and Harsha from Team LW went on a amazing Unseen Landscapes adventure to photograph the caves of Meghalaya in North Eastern region of the Indian Sub-continent.  Cave Photography is still in its infancy in India and this is probably the only professional work  done on photographing the hidden subterranean worlds in India. The accompanying 5 min video gives you an insight into their amazing adventure and showcases the challenges and threats facing this sensitive and fragile eco-system. Luminous Landscapes (LuLa)

Luminous Landscapes (LuLa)

Venturing into a dense snake infested jungle in the middle of the night is crazy enough, but doing it without any torch light and amidst pouring rain was truly ridiculous! And that’s what we did, daring into the inky darkness looking for something that fairy tales are made of. It was our maiden expedition into the rain soaked forests of the western ghats looking for the fabled "Luminous Landscapes" Bioluminescence (BL) is big in these forests and there is no shortage of organisms exhibiting this wonderful phenomenon. Most of us have seen BL through Fireflies and Glow worms, but the phenomenon is not limited to insects alone. This is also prevalent in a range of mushrooms and fungi, and it was our mission to find these on our adven...
Meteor Landscapes (MeLa)

Meteor Landscapes (MeLa)

A Photo Expedition  to shoot one of the most beautiful and seldom witnessed natural wonders  ! A Time Lapse image showing the meteors striking through the clear winter sky of BRT A dream which has been constantly with me for the last 4 years was one of making an image of a meteor shower at night. Images of this sort are hard to come-by and I have seen very few landscape images depicting a meteor shower in its full glory. With no such images from the Indian Subcontinent I knew it would not be easy making my image. I spent countless hours planning my shots and working out the correct technique, but most of these ended in failures. However with each failed attempt I learned something new, and this knowledge eventually he...
