This is not by intention. It’s just that I am usually so engrossed with what lies in front of my camera that I seldom think about the person standing behind it. :D Here are a few words about myself and how I got started in photography.
I was born in Shillong and grew up in the neighboring city of Guwahati in northeastern India. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Karnataka Regional Engineering College, I came to the United States...

Tell us something about Ian Plant. What he was before coming into Photography and how did He end up with Landscape photography?
I took a rather roundabout route into professional nature photography. I started off as a lawyer, working for a large Washington, D.C. law firm for eight years before leaving to become a pro nature photographer. I bought my first camera while in law school and I realized then that I was completely hooked on photography. As soon as I paid off my law school debt and saved up a little bit of money, I jumped in and have never looked back. That was almost seven years ago.
Your images are extremely popular among landscape photographers ac...

Team Wizards would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Marsel on winning the first prize as
Nature Photographer of the year 2011 in INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS. More about it on his blog here
Taking photographs began as a way for Marsel to escape from life in the fast lane. After a trip to Tanzania, however, things started getting more serious. Close encounters with the animals of the Serengeti fueled his passion for wildlife photography, which soon became his specialty. Five years later, Van Oosten took the plunge and swapped his established advertising career for the precarious life of a nature photographer, a move that deman...

What drove you into Nature photography and Landscape photography in particular ?
I have to admit it may have been more of a lucky coincidence than anything else. From a young age, I always loved being outdoors and exploring the fields around my house. At one point I decided to borrow my dad's camera and tried to photograph some of the things that fascinated me. I wasn't very successful but the experience stayed with me and a few years later I bought my first “serious” camera and started photographing in earnest. In the early years I wasn't too concerned with subjects, light, or composition. I photographed anything I found even remotely interesting ...

1. Tell us something about Patrick De Fruscia and what he was before getting into Photography and how He ended up with Landscape photography.
As a teenager I worked in a music store. At the age of 17 I started working in bars and nightclub. I then met a guy who got me in the fitness industry and started working also as a graphic/web designer for a sport supplement company in Montreal and later on became the Marketing Manager for that same company. During that time I also kept my job as a bartender and did this part time for close to 15 years. One day the owner of the supplement company came to me and ask me to undertake the task of learning photography. He grew tired o...

1. Let’s start with the usual question - there must have been an inflection point in your life that motivated you to transit to Nature Photography. Tell us more about how it all started.
I have always been into nature. Even as a small boy I wanted to be a ‘forest ranger’ or a ‘mountain man’. When I was in university studying to be a biologist I needed a camera to document my research. As soon as the camera got into my hand, something ‘clicked’ (bad pun, I know). I think the camera allowed me, as an introvert, to share what I saw in the world without me having to talk or draw attention to myself. The photos did all the work!
2. 25 years of Photographic experien...

Tell us something about Ross Ching and how did he get into photography as such ?
I initially got into photography in high school because my friends wanted me to film their skateboard tricks. That soon morphed into a strong appreciation for the art of photography and how so much meaning can be conveyed by pushing a button.
There are many streams in Photography, what made you choose Time lapse photography ?
I was looking for a way to create something unique. I didn't want to just take a video camera and film a movie. So I began thinking about how I could use a still camera to make something more interesting. I eventually learned abo...
