In this we try to explain the concepts and techniques behind making your own Time-Lapse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The introduction to Time-Lapse (henceforth addressed as TL) begins with an introduction to normal conventional Video. And that is because even TL is a video, and has all the concepts and terminologies of a video. But unlike a regular video which requires a video camera a TL can be done using any still camera. Its very simple and super fun. All you have to do is to make sure you follow the basics right.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">So, what is Time-Lapse photography?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><iframe src='\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/22474040?autoplay=0' width='800' height='450' frameborder='0' webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wikipedia defines \u201cTime-Lapse photography\u201d as a form of video photography where each frame is captured at a much slower rate than the rate at which it is played back (I shall get back to this point in a while) <a class=\"ed\" href=\"http:\/\/giakethongminh.com\/ios-13-ipsw-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">ios 13 ipsw \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. When played back at regular speeds it has aneffect of speeding up time. Subtle events like a flower bloom or a sun set, which usually take hours in real time can be speeded up by many folds to view the event in a matter of seconds.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>How does Time-Lapse work?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Imagine this scenario: We have a flower which blooms in lets say 2 hours. If filmed at regular speed, we will end up with a 2 hour footage of the flower blooming. And it will beat the same speed as the event. Now if instead I take my still camera and make images of the flower say every 30 seconds, and then combine all the images together to form a movie (the part of combining individual images into a movie will be explained later in the tutorial), then how would it be? At this rate I will have 2 images every minute, or 120 images after 1 hr and 240 images at the end of 2 hours. Now combining these images into a video, which plays 30 images per second, I would end up with a video clip of 8 sec. The 2 hour footage has now been compressed to be shown in 8 seconds. This compression of time line acts as speeding agents and shows the flower bloom at 900 times its actual speed. The out come of this is often dramatic and produces a characteristic signature effect which is common across all TL videos.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Uses of Time-Lapse photography<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TL photography has become very popular in the digital age due to the ease at which tee individual images can be captured and combined to form TL videos <a class=\"ed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aaronspestcontrol.com\/config-nt-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">config.nt<\/a>. It is used for wide ranging applications like academic and scientific study of the weather patterns to artistic\u00a0portrayal of landscapes. Anybody familiar with BBC documentaries like Planet Earth would instantly recall the multiple TL sequences which have become a signature of the series.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Time-Lapse photography \u2013 A basic how to<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even though TL photography seems complex and labor intensive, it\u2019s not all that bad. Now again this is not mandatory, but it will make your life a lot easier if you have one.<\/li>\n<li>A sturdy Tripod.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[\/arrow_list]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Software<\/strong>:<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[arrow_list]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/quicktime\/extending\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Apple Quicktime Pro<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> or a similar movie maker \u2013 To combine the individual images into a movie <a class=\"ed\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.yu-ki-chiro.com\/2020\/02\/07\/%ed%99%94%eb%82%99-%ed%94%84%eb%a1%9c%ea%b7%b8%eb%9e%a8-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Download the Angry Program<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/photoshoplightroom\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Adobe Light Room<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> \u2013 For bulk editing your pictures (again not mandatory).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/arrow_list]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you have these above listed points covered then you are good to go!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Shooting your Time-Lapse movie:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Choosing your \u00a0subject<\/strong>:<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An ideal subject for TL is anything that varies over time. A classic subject is a flower bloom, or clouds moving in the sky. You can choose any subject that has gradual movement \/ change over time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Shooting the TL<\/strong>:<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once you have chosen your subject, place your camera on the Tripod and lock the position. You should at no point during the shoot move the camera or change the camera settings.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Camera Settings<\/strong>:<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shoot your TL sequence on the manual mode in the camera locking the exposure and white balance. Use a white balance which corresponds to the light you are shooting in, but never use auto white balance. \u00a0The images can be shot in either JPEG or RAW mode depending on your comfort level.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Setting up the intervelometer<\/strong>:<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Based on what you are shooting and the time interval between successive shots, your TL can either be a smooth movie or a jerky one <a class=\"ed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hackneygunners.co.uk\/%ec%9e%98%eb%82%9c%ec%b2%b4-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">\uc798\ub09c\uccb4 \ub2e4\uc6b4\ub85c\ub4dc<\/a>. It\u2019s visually more appealing to have asmooth progression in the movie, and this depends on the time interval between each successive shots. If you have a slow changing subject (flower bloom) then you can afford a longer interval between successive shots. If on the other hand you have a fast changing subject (cloud movement) then you need to have a smaller interval. The optimum interval time is best defined by trial on the location and usually it takes a couple of tries before you get the interval time right. Remember not to move or change any setting during the whole process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Making your Time-Lapse movie:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You have finished shooting your TL and now comes the hard part of combining theimages into a movie. This involves first editing the images (in Light Room) and then combining them into a movie (in Quick time Pro).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Editing the images:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I usually use Light Room to make bulk edits of the images I have shot for my TL and youcan use any other software with similar features or avoid this step completely if you are fine with the images as is <a class=\"ed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.trail-hillion.fr\/%ec%8a%a4%ed%8c%8c%ec%9d%b4%eb%8d%94-%ec%b9%b4%eb%93%9c-%eb%86%80%ec%9d%b4-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">Spider Solitaire download<\/a>. Bulk editing maintains consistency of processing across theimages and also requires minimal human intervention, thus making this step simpler.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Light Room:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Importing photos:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Start by downloading all the TL images from your memory card onto the hard disk drivein to a separate folder. Hit on Develop and make the necessary changes to the images as per your taste. Click on the dotted Rectangle or the Crop Overlay tool to bring the Cropmenu as shown below. Now under File Settings choose theformat to JPEG and set color space to sRGB. Under Image Sizing, check Resize to Fit,and choose Short edge with Don\u2019t Enlarge, and set the Pixel dimension and resolution to a dimension you are comfortable with. Here I have chosen 1080 with a 300 ppi as Iusually like to have a bigger size image to make my TL, this gives me more flexibility inmaking larger resolution pictures which can be played on TVs etc <a class=\"ed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gratifikasi.pkr.ac.id\/2020\/02\/06\/ses-%eb%8b%ac%eb%a6%ac%ea%b8%b0-%eb%8b%a4%ec%9a%b4%eb%a1%9c%eb%93%9c\/\">ses run<\/a>. If however you are not too keen on having a bigger image, then you can resize to 720 pixels as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once this is done, hit on Export. This exports all your images to the new folder \u201cLowresJPEGs\u201d and you are now done with image editing!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Creating the Movie:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You will need Apple Quicktime Pro (<strong>Note<\/strong>: This is a Pro version of the famous Quick time\u00a0player) for this step, which combines all the individual images into a movie with either a .mov or a .mp4 extension. Once this is done hit on the dropdown \u201cFrame rate:\u201d to choose the speed at which you want your images to be displayed. You can see how the movie looks by playing the movie at the chosen fps.Experiment with different Frame rates to choose one speed which looks the best for your TL. Please note however your movie still doesn\u2019t have any music, so if you are planning on adding some music there is one last step that needs to be done.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Adding Music to your Time-Lapse:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Clipping your desired music:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After you have exported your TL as a .mov file, find some music which goes well your video. Note down the length of your video clip, as you will be copying music which is aslong as the video duration. Now open the music in another instance of QuickTime, move your pointer over the time slider and you will notice a \u201cL\u201d and \u201cReverse L\u201d icons appear. Drag these icons to the part of the music file which you want placed in the video. If my video is 15 sec long I basically want the spacing between my two \u201cL\u201d icons to be 15 secslong.
